Where to sell your e-books

Posted by

So let’s say you have an e-book ready to sell. You probably have had it converted to a PDF file already (this is what most self-publishers do as it’s compatible with more devices). So now what?

Blog where to sell

Well, there are two popular avenues for you to sell. These are:

  1. Your own website; and
  2. Amazon

What are the benefits of selling thru my own website?

You have more control of the selling process, especially pricing. You can also promote more of your own products and you can charge higher prices. I’ve seen self-publishers charge their customers for e-books ranging from $ 5 to as much as $ 250 a book! How’s that for taking charge? As a bonus, you are also in control of getting your customers’ information. This is vital if you wish to offer them more products and services in the future.

How about Amazon?

The biggest advantage of selling thru Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing is that Amazon has a HUGE reach. They take care of reaching more people for you. This may not be possible if you were to do it through your own website. Imagine, around 89 million Americans are said to be active book readers! And that’s just in the United States alone. All of them can be your potential customers. Furthermore, 38 percent of daily sales of e-books are from Amazon self-published titles. The only downside is, of course, you don’t get to have full control of the selling process. You also can’t charge the price you want, and Amazon will charge you a commission on your sales.

No matter what you decide, with the right content and your marketing efforts, you may be well on your way to becoming a self-published millionaire! Hope this helps!
